Himachal Weather Update: A Fresh Western Cyclonic Disturbance is likely to deteriorate Himachal Weather from 17th May 2024.
For the next five days starting from May 13th, 2024, the weather across the state is looking pretty good overall. Expect mostly sunny skies and pleasant conditions. However, if you happen to be up in the high hills, there might be a chance of some very light rain here and there, but nothing too heavy. As for temperatures, things are heating up a bit. Daytime highs and nighttime lows are likely to rise by about 2-3 degrees Celsius. So, it’s going to feel a tad warmer than usual, but still within the normal range or even a bit above normal for this time of year. Overall, it’s shaping up to be a nice stretch of weather for the state.
Reported & Written By Neha Singh, Diary Times, Shimla, May 13:Today, the weather in Shimla, our summer capital, is quite pleasant, according to the Meteorological Centre there. Over Shimla, the sky is a bit cloudy, which means the sunlight is more spread out and not as intense. This also makes it a bit harder to see things clearly in that area. In the catchment areas of rivers like Satluj, Beas, and Ranjit Nagar in Himachal Pradesh, there’s nothing major happening weather-wise. It’s pretty much business as usual. However, in some specific spots in districts like Chamba, Shimla, and Sirmaur, there could be a light sprinkle of rain. But don’t expect it to be widespread or heavy. Overall, it’s a mix of different conditions across the region today.

Over the past day, we’ve seen some rain and thunderstorms in scattered spots across the state. But it’s been a different story in various areas: lower hill regions like Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and parts of Mandi, Solan, and Sirmour, it’s been dry, and that’s expected to stay the same tomorrow. Moving up to the middle hills, places like Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi have also stayed dry. However, in the higher hills including Kinnaur, Lahaul, Spiti, and parts of Chamba and Kullu, there’s been rain and snow in some spots, and this pattern will continue tomorrow. As for temperatures, not much change has been noted in the past day. Minimum temperatures have been noticeably cooler than usual, while maximum temperatures have been lower than normal as well. The coldest spot today was Kukumaseri at a chilly 0.6 degrees Celsius, while the hottest was Una at 38.0 degrees Celsius. Hail has been observed in Banjar, Kullu district, and Rajgarh, Sirmour district. Looking ahead, a new weather system is expected to affect the region starting from the 17th of May, bringing potential changes to the Western Himalayas.
