“The brutality of this crime has shaken the conscience of Himachal,” Thakur said, expressing concern over public safety, especially for women.

Thakur called for a thorough investigation into the case, urging authorities to examine whether the accused acted alone or was influenced by others. While the police have already made an arrest, he stressed that “every possible link must be carefully investigated” to ensure justice.

Highlighting a worrying connection, Thakur pointed to the increasing problem of drug abuse in the state. He alleged that the accused in the Sarkaghat murder was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime.

- 66 deaths due to drug overdose
- More than 1,850 cases of crimes against women
“These numbers clearly indicate a dangerous rise in crime and substance abuse, which the government has failed to control,” he said.
