The Himachal Pradesh BJP is set to intensify its preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections as the party’s core committee convenes in Shimla on July 7 to discuss key organisational matters and formulate its political roadmap for the coming years.

The meeting is being viewed as a crucial step in the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its position in the state and lay the groundwork for its campaign ahead of the next Vidhan Sabha polls.

Several senior BJP leaders are expected to participate in the discussions, including state BJP president Rajeev Bindal, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal, and state organisational general secretary Siddharthan. Members of Parliament Anurag Thakur, Sikander Kumar and Harsh Mahajan, along with MLAs Satpal Singh Satti, Rakesh Jamwal and Vipin Singh Parmar, are also likely to attend the meeting.

BJP national vice-president Saudan Singh, Himachal BJP in-charge Shrikant Sharma and co-in-charge Sanjay Tandon will join the deliberations as special invitees.

According to party sources, the leadership is expected to focus on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level by expanding its network up to every booth across the state. The party is also likely to discuss a detailed strategy for the 2027 Assembly elections and explore ways to mobilise workers more effectively.

Sources indicate that the BJP may adopt an aggressive political approach in the coming months, targeting the Congress government over issues it describes as anti-people decisions and alleging that several promises made before the 2022 Assembly elections remain unfulfilled.

The meeting carries additional significance as veteran BJP leader and former Union Minister Shanta Kumar is expected to take part in the discussions after a considerable gap, a development that could add further weight to the party’s internal strategy discussions.

Political observers believe the deliberations could provide an early indication of the BJP’s electoral priorities and campaign direction as the race towards the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections gradually gathers momentum.
