Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, April 06: Police have arrested five drug peddlers while busting a chitta smuggling gang in Kotkhai, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Six accused, including the gang’s supplier and agent, have been arrested. Among the arrested accused, five are residents of Kotkhai and one is from Chandigarh. All the accused used to supply Chitta in Upper Shimla. Theog police achieved this success on the information of an accused arrested from Kotkhai with a small consignment of Chitta.

In fact, on February 14, the police had caught Parikshit, a youth from Kotkhai, with 12 grams of chitta. After which the accused was taken on police remand. On his information, the police identified six smugglers and monitored their activities. When their involvement in chitta smuggling was revealed, the police arrested them. The accused include Kotkhai resident Aditya Chauhan (25), Paras Justa (27), Abhay Chauhan (26), Vishwa Raj Singh (32), Asutosh (24) and Chandigarh resident Sahil (26).

Theog DSP Siddharth Sharma has confirmed the matter. He told that the accused will be presented in the court to take them on remand. A SIT of police is investigating the case. Kotkhai SHO Ankush Thakur, SI Ankush Sharma and Head Constable Anil have been included in the SIT. Theog SHO Dharam Sain Negi is monitoring the SIT.
