Villagers protesting against the Kikar-Navgaon drinking water scheme being built in Ali Khad on the Solan-Bilaspur border have pelted stones to stop the work.

A home guard and seven police personnel present near the scheme in Arki area have been injured in stone pelting.

According to Arki police, about 400 protesters from Bilaspur side pelted stones at police personnel and people engaged in the construction of pump houses.

In the entire matter, SP Solan Gaurav Singh said that the police has registered the case. The accused will be caught soon.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the second Mahapanchayat was organized at Triveni Ghat. Representatives of various Panchayats and hundreds of people participated in it. People from more than 50 panchayats attended the Mahapanchayat. Shrinayana Devi ji’s MLA Randhir Sharma also came to participate in this mahapanchayat. Police force has been deployed on the spot. After the Mahapanchayat, the villagers went to the spot and got the drinking water scheme work stopped. Also threw stones in the tank under construction.

During this period the situation remained tense. The villagers also raised slogans against the Arki administration and the government. The struggle committee said that the administration and the government are not taking this matter seriously. If drinking water scheme is made here then people of Bilaspur will have to face water crisis in summer. No one is thinking about this. He said that if this work is not stopped soon, the movement will become more violent. It will be the responsibility of the government and administration.
