Taiwan Detects Increased Chinese Military Activity Around Its Territory, PLA Aircraft Enter ADIZ
Taiwan has reported a fresh increase in Chinese military activity around its territory, with the island’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) detecting People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, Chinese naval vessels and an official ship operating in nearby waters and airspace.

According to the Taiwan MND, two sorties by PLA aircraft, seven vessels belonging to the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and one official ship were detected around Taiwan up to 6 a.m. local time on Monday.
The ministry said both of the detected PLA aircraft crossed the Taiwan Strait’s median line before entering the northern part of Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
“2 sorties of PLA aircraft, 7 PLAN vessels and 1 official ship operating around Taiwan detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 2 out of 2 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern part ADIZ,” Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence said in a post on X.
Taiwan’s armed forces said they closely monitored the developments and responded appropriately to the detected military activity.
Chinese Military Activity Around Taiwan Increased on Sunday
The latest development comes a day after Taiwan reported a larger presence of Chinese military forces around the island.
On Sunday, the MND said it had detected 10 sorties by PLA aircraft, nine PLAN vessels and three official ships operating around Taiwan.
The ministry said eight of the 10 aircraft sorties crossed the Taiwan Strait median line and entered the northern part of Taiwan’s ADIZ. Taiwan’s armed forces monitored the situation and took necessary response measures, according to the MND.
Taiwan Remains a Major Point of Tension Between China and the US
The latest military activity comes amid continued diplomatic tensions surrounding Taiwan.
Earlier on July 3, China urged the United States to exercise greater prudence while handling Taiwan-related issues, saying the matter carries far-reaching implications.
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had discussed Taiwan-related concerns during a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to Xu Feihong, Wang Yi stressed the importance of removing disruptions, overcoming obstacles and remaining firmly on the right course.
