Governor Kavinder Gupta Awards Degrees to 2,244 Students at JUIT Convocation in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta awarded degrees and medals to 2,244 students during the seventh convocation of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, in Solan district on Saturday.

The convocation marked an important milestone for the university, which is celebrating 25 years of academic excellence. The degrees awarded included 1,966 BTech degrees, three Integrated MTech degrees, 69 MTech degrees, 116 MSc degrees and 90 PhD degrees.

Congratulating the university and graduating students, Governor Kavinder Gupta said JUIT’s silver jubilee represented more than just 25 years of institutional growth. He said the milestone reflected the dreams and achievements of thousands of students, the dedication of faculty members and the university’s contribution to the growth of higher education in Himachal Pradesh.

Technology Must Serve Humanity, Says Governor

Addressing the graduating students, Gupta urged them to remain determined while facing challenges and to view success not as a final destination but as the beginning of a new journey.

Referring to the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, Digital India and the rapidly evolving technology sector, the Governor said technological advancement should always be guided by the larger objective of serving humanity.

He also highlighted the AI-powered mental health support chatbot developed by JUIT students. According to the Governor, the project was an inspiring example of how innovation and technology can be used to address real-life social challenges.

Focus on Hill-State Challenges and Local Innovation

Governor Gupta encouraged researchers, students and young innovators to develop technology-driven solutions for the unique challenges faced by hill states like Himachal Pradesh.

He particularly highlighted the need for innovation in areas such as disaster management, sustainable agriculture and healthcare. He also urged students and researchers to conduct scientific studies on the state’s rich medicinal herbs and plants.

The Governor said research in these areas could not only help address local challenges but also create new entrepreneurial opportunities and provide greater benefits to farmers.

During the convocation ceremony, JUIT Vice-Chancellor Professor RK Sharma presented the university’s annual progress report and highlighted the institution’s achievements and development over the past year.

The seventh convocation marked a significant occasion for JUIT as the university continues its journey of academic growth, research and innovation while completing 25 years of educational excellence.
