Himachal Pradesh Weather Today: Rain to Persist, Yellow Alert for Seven Districts

Residents across several parts of Himachal Pradesh may continue to experience rainy weather on Monday as the State Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for seven districts. According to the latest weather forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated locations, while most other regions of the state are likely to witness largely dry conditions.

The yellow alert has been issued for Kullu, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti, where weather officials have warned of intermittent rainfall during the day. Travelers, tourists, and local residents in these districts are advised to stay updated on weather developments and exercise caution while commuting in hilly areas.

Rainfall Expected in Key Tourist and Hill Districts

The weather department stated that the rainfall activity is likely to remain limited to isolated pockets but could impact daily life in some regions, especially in higher-altitude districts. Popular tourist destinations in Kullu, Kangra, and Chamba may witness cloudy skies accompanied by occasional showers.

Despite the rainfall forecast, weather conditions across the rest of Himachal Pradesh are expected to remain mostly stable, with no major weather disturbances anticipated.

Temperatures Remain Near Normal Across the State

Meteorologists have also indicated that minimum temperatures across Himachal Pradesh are expected to remain close to seasonal averages, with no significant changes forecast in the coming days.

Among the major towns and cities, Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 15°C, while Dharamshala registered 16.8°C. Solan reported 16.4°C, Mandi 16°C, Sundernagar 18.5°C, and Kangra 20.1°C.

Other temperature readings included:

  • Una: 18°C
  • Nahan: 18.9°C
  • Chamba: 18.2°C
  • Bhuntar: 15.2°C
  • Kufri: 11.6°C
  • Kalpa: 8.6°C
  • Paonta Sahib: 24°C

Keylong Remains the Coldest Place in Himachal Pradesh

The coldest location in the state was Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district, where the minimum temperature dropped to 4.4°C. The low temperature highlights the cooler conditions prevailing in the higher reaches of the Himalayan region, even as lower areas experience relatively mild weather.

Weather Outlook for the Next 24 Hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects rainfall activity to continue in isolated areas covered under the yellow alert, while the majority of Himachal Pradesh is likely to remain dry. Authorities have advised residents in rain-affected districts to remain cautious, especially in landslide-prone and mountainous regions.

With the monsoon season gradually strengthening across northern India, weather experts will continue to monitor changing conditions in Himachal Pradesh over the coming days.
