Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and emotional welcome in Rome on Tuesday as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni greeted him with a heartfelt message, saying, “Welcome to Rome, my friend!”

Sharing a special moment on social media platform X, Meloni posted a picture with PM Modi shortly after his arrival in Italy, marking the final stop of his five-nation diplomatic tour. The Italian leader’s warm gesture once again reflected the growing friendship and strategic partnership between India and Italy.

PM Modi Gets Grand Reception From Indian Diaspora in Rome

As PM Modi arrived in Rome, members of the Indian diaspora gathered enthusiastically to welcome him. The atmosphere outside his hotel was filled with excitement, cultural performances, and chants celebrating India’s Prime Minister.

PM Modi interacted warmly with members of the Indian community, greeting supporters and appreciating artists who performed traditional Indian music and dance. In one touching moment, the Prime Minister signed an autograph for a young child who presented him with a portrait.

Many members of the Indian diaspora described the meeting as a memorable and emotional experience. Several attendees said PM Modi’s message of unity and togetherness deeply resonated with the community living abroad.

Cultural Connection Between India and Italy on Display

The Rome visit also highlighted the growing cultural bond between India and Italy. PM Modi viewed a painting of the ghats of Varanasi created by an Italian artist inspired by Indian traditions and spirituality.

The artist described the artwork as “a bridge between Italian creativity and India’s colourful culture,” adding that Indian heritage continues to inspire many European artists.

Artists who performed during the welcome ceremony also expressed happiness after interacting with PM Modi. One musician revealed that the group performed a special composition based on Raga Hamsadhwani to honour the Indian Prime Minister.

India-Italy Relations Continue to Grow Stronger

PM Modi’s Italy visit comes at a time when India and Italy are rapidly strengthening bilateral relations across several sectors. Both nations are actively working on the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, focusing on trade, defence, clean energy, innovation, technology, and cultural cooperation.

Trade relations between the two countries have also witnessed significant growth in recent years, reflecting increasing economic collaboration and investment opportunities.

Before arriving in Italy, PM Modi visited Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates as part of his multi-nation diplomatic outreach aimed at strengthening India’s global partnerships.
