PM Modi’s visit to the iconic castle came as part of the fourth leg of his ongoing five-nation foreign tour. The meeting between the two leaders focused on strengthening cooperation in areas such as technology, innovation, trade, green energy, and maritime development.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi also met King Harald V of Norway at the Royal Palace in Oslo. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the meeting reflected the strong and long-standing friendship between the two nations.
During the interaction, PM Modi conveyed warm greetings from the people of India and praised Norway’s breathtaking natural beauty. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values, rule of law, and people-centric governance, which continue to form the foundation of India-Norway relations.
The MEA stated that Prime Minister Modi and King Harald V discussed the growing role of Indian and Norwegian companies in several sectors, especially emerging technologies and innovation-driven industries. The discussions also touched upon future opportunities for collaboration in sustainable development and advanced technologies.
Following the meeting, King Harald V hosted a special luncheon in honour of Prime Minister Modi. The Indian Prime Minister thanked the Norwegian leadership for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to him during the visit.
In a major diplomatic moment, PM Modi was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by King Harald V. The honour is regarded as one of Norway’s highest recognitions and is presented for exceptional contributions towards strengthening bilateral relations and international cooperation.
The recognition adds another milestone to PM Modi’s international diplomatic engagements and reflects the deepening partnership between India and Norway on global issues.
Prime Minister Modi is currently on the fourth stop of his five-nation tour and is scheduled to travel to Italy on May 19 for the next phase of his diplomatic visit.
