The CBSE Class 12 Results 2026 brought encouraging news for students in Himachal Pradesh, as the state once again performed better than the national average. Continuing a consistent trend, girls outperformed boys in overall pass percentage, highlighting strong academic performances across schools in the state.

According to the results declared on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh recorded an overall pass percentage of 89.60%, comfortably higher than the national average of 85.20%.

Girls from the state secured a pass percentage of 91.84%, while boys recorded 87.61%, maintaining the gender performance gap seen in previous years.

A total of 11,885 students from 243 schools across Himachal Pradesh appeared for the CBSE Class 12 examinations this year. Out of these, 6,294 were boys and 5,591 were girls.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas Lead Performance Chart

Among the different educational institutions, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) delivered the best results with an outstanding pass percentage of 99.48%. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) followed closely behind with 99.25%.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools also delivered exceptional results, achieving a 100% pass percentage. However, only 113 students appeared from these schools.

Private schools, which had the highest number of candidates, recorded a pass percentage of 87.52%.

ST Students Record Highest Pass Percentage Among Categories

Category-wise data showed that Scheduled Tribe (ST) students achieved the highest success rate with a pass percentage of 92.11%.

General category students secured 90.01%, while Scheduled Caste (SC) students recorded 87.96%. OBC students registered a pass percentage of 87.19%.

The performance reflects steady academic progress across different student groups in the state.

Himachal’s Overall Result Declines Compared to Last Year

Despite performing above the national average, Himachal Pradesh witnessed a slight drop in its overall CBSE Class 12 result compared to last year.

In 2025, the state had recorded an overall pass percentage of 92.76%. During that session, girls achieved 95.03%, while boys had secured 90.77%.

Even with the decline, Himachal Pradesh remains among the better-performing states in the country in CBSE board examinations.

Why This Result Matters

Education experts believe the continued strong performance of girls in Himachal Pradesh reflects growing academic awareness, improved school participation, and better educational support systems across the state.

The impressive performance of JNVs and KVs also highlights the role of disciplined academic environments and quality teaching infrastructure in achieving consistent board exam success.

For thousands of students and parents, the CBSE Class 12 result marks an important milestone that will shape future college admissions and career opportunities.
