In a major boost for Himachal Pradesh’s tourism sector, Alliance Air has expanded its flight operations for Kullu and Manali ahead of the summer travel season. The airline has increased the frequency of Kullu-Delhi flights to five days a week until June and has also resumed services on the Kullu-Amritsar route.
The move comes as a huge relief for hotel owners, tour operators and local businesses in Kullu and Manali, who were worried after the airline earlier reduced flight operations to only three days a week until October. Tourism stakeholders had raised concerns that limited air connectivity could affect visitor numbers during the peak holiday season.
Alliance Air Revises Kullu-Delhi Flight Schedule
According to the updated schedule, flights from Kullu to Delhi will now operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Morning flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will depart at 8:05 AM, while Tuesday flights are scheduled at 12:05 PM and Sunday flights at 11:45 AM.
However, flight services will remain unavailable on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Interestingly, airfare for the newly added Tuesday and Sunday flights is significantly lower compared to other operating days. Passengers can book tickets for around Rs 17,000, while fares on other days are reportedly touching nearly Rs 24,400.
Delhi to Kullu Flights Also Increased
For travellers flying from Delhi to Kullu, Alliance Air will operate flights at different timings throughout the week. Flights will depart at 7:20 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 7:50 AM on Tuesdays and at 10:05 AM on Sundays.
Additionally, the airline has introduced a Saturday service via Jaipur. This flight will leave Delhi at 7:20 AM and arrive in Kullu at approximately 10:40 AM, offering another travel option for tourists heading to Himachal Pradesh.
Kullu-Amritsar Flights Resume After Demand Surge
Alliance Air has also restarted Kullu-Amritsar flights on Tuesdays until June. The decision is expected to benefit both tourists and local travellers seeking faster connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
Apart from this, Kullu-Jaipur flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while Kullu-Dehradun services are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays. However, tickets for some of these routes are yet to become available on online booking platforms.
Tourism Industry Welcomes Decision
Tourism stakeholders across Kullu and Manali have welcomed the airline’s decision, calling it a much-needed step before the summer tourist rush. Industry experts believe reliable flight connectivity is crucial for maintaining tourist inflow, especially during the off-season when road travel can become challenging.
Local business owners say frequent changes in flight schedules create uncertainty among travellers and negatively impact hotel bookings and tourism-related businesses.
Aviation Experts Suggest Smaller Aircraft for Himachal Routes
Meanwhile, aviation experts have recommended deploying Dornier-228 aircraft on Kullu and Shimla routes. According to experts, the smaller aircraft are better suited for Himachal Pradesh’s short runways and difficult terrain.
They believe such aircraft could help improve regional connectivity, reduce airfare prices and encourage more airlines to operate in the hill state. Better air connectivity is also expected to support the local economy and tourism industry in the long run.
Himachal Tourism Depends on Stable Air Connectivity
Although the immediate concern over reduced flights has eased, tourism businesses say long-term planning and dependable air services remain essential for sustaining tourism growth in Himachal Pradesh.
With summer vacations approaching and tourist demand rising rapidly, the latest decision by Alliance Air is expected to provide much-needed support to travellers planning trips to popular destinations like Kullu and Manali.
