In a significant move aimed at strengthening the financial security of its workforce, the Himachal Pradesh Police has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HDFC Bank, ensuring enhanced insurance and banking benefits for police personnel and their families.
Under the renewed agreement, police personnel will now receive personal accidental death cover of up to ₹50 lakh, providing crucial financial support to families in case of unforeseen incidents. The MoU was formally signed by Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari on behalf of the state police, along with officials from the bank.
Apart from the accidental cover, the agreement also includes permanent and partial disability insurance of up to ₹50 lakh, offering a safety net for officers facing life-altering injuries in the line of duty.
Adding further value, the scheme introduces education assistance of up to ₹4 lakh for dependent children, helping families manage future academic expenses. Police personnel will also benefit from a ₹5 lakh life insurance cover, along with free personal accident insurance of up to ₹12 lakh linked to debit cards.
One of the standout features of the MoU is the provision of ₹1 crore insurance coverage in case of international air accidents, reflecting a comprehensive approach towards risk coverage.
Additionally, the agreement ensures access to zero-balance family accounts, allowing family members to enjoy banking benefits similar to the primary account holder.
Speaking on the development, DGP Ashok Tewari emphasized the department’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel. He stated that police officers work tirelessly, often under challenging conditions, and such initiatives are essential to ensure their financial stability and dignity.
“The Himachal Pradesh Police remains dedicated to the well-being of its personnel. This renewed partnership with HDFC Bank will provide enhanced financial protection and banking support,” he said.
He further added that the initiative is a step towards empowering police personnel by securing their future and supporting their families.
This renewed MoU highlights the state government’s continued focus on police welfare, financial protection, and long-term security, ensuring that those who serve the public are themselves protected.
