Amid ongoing political debate over the Women’s Reservation Bill, BJP leader Shrey Awasthi has sharply criticized opposition parties, accusing them of prioritizing political interests over a historic step toward women’s empowerment.

Shrey Awasthi, who serves as the State BJP Social Media Department Co-Convenor, said the opposition’s stance on the proposed 33% reservation for women in Parliament is disappointing. According to him, at a time when the country is taking a major step to empower women, political resistance is overshadowing national interest.

“It is unfortunate that instead of supporting such an important reform, the opposition is indulging in politics,” Awasthi said, adding that empowering women should be a collective responsibility beyond party lines.

He further alleged that opposing key government decisions has become a pattern for opposition parties. “Whether it is economic reforms, welfare initiatives, or policies aimed at strengthening women’s rights, the opposition tends to resist every major step,” he claimed.

Awasthi also stated that the current reaction to the Women’s Reservation Bill reflects the opposition’s priorities. “Their approach shows they are more focused on politics than on genuine development and respect for women,” he remarked.

Taking a broader view, he emphasized that women’s empowerment is not just a policy matter but a cornerstone of nation-building. “If women progress, the entire nation progresses. Strengthening women’s participation in governance is essential for India’s future,” he added.

Calling for unity, Awasthi urged all political parties to rise above differences and support the initiative in the larger interest of society. He also noted that citizens are closely observing the political developments and will support leaders who focus on real issues.

He concluded by cautioning against politicizing sensitive matters like women’s rights. “Turning such an important issue into a political debate is not only inappropriate but also unfair to the nation’s future,” he said.
