Emphasizing a major step toward inclusive governance, Rajeev Bindal on Thursday said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will play a transformative role in strengthening democracy by ensuring greater participation of women in decision-making.
Addressing a large gathering during the “Nari Shakti Vandan” programme in Dharamsala, Bindal described the legislation as a “historic milestone” that reflects India’s commitment to women-led development. The event witnessed the presence of several BJP leaders, including Sudhir Sharma, Pawan Kajal, and Vipin Singh Parmar, along with a significant number of women participants.
Bindal credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for redefining women empowerment in India. He stated that the approach has evolved from welfare-centric schemes to a broader vision where women are key contributors to nation-building.
According to Bindal, the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will significantly increase women’s representation in Parliament and state assemblies, ensuring more inclusive and sensitive policymaking.
Highlighting government initiatives, he noted that schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana have benefited over 4.27 crore women, while POSHAN 2.0 continues to support nearly 9 crore beneficiaries through anganwadi networks. He also pointed out the success of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in improving the sex ratio at birth, and the role of Mission Shakti and women’s helplines in providing safety and support.
On the economic front, Bindal said that women have received nearly 68% of loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, and over 3 crore women have emerged as “Lakhpati Didis,” showcasing the growing financial independence among women.
He further emphasized improvements in maternal and child healthcare, adding that flagship initiatives like Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Jal Jeevan Mission have significantly enhanced the dignity and quality of life for women across the country.
Concluding his address, Bindal expressed confidence that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will lay a strong foundation for a “New India” — one where women are empowered, self-reliant, and at the center of governance and development.
