Shimla, July 17: Remembering the sacrifice of Imam Hussain, people of Shia Muslim community took out a procession on Muharram in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. On this occasion, the followers of Islam were seen taking out a procession in black clothes and remembered the sacrifice made by Imam Hussain in Karbala for Islam. These people took out a procession from Krishnanagar to Boileauganj in Shimla.

Let us tell you that it is called the month of sorrow. The Muslim community, especially the Shia community, mourns and takes out a procession in memory of the martyrdom of 72 martyrs of Karbala, including Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet-e-Islam Hazrat Mohammad.

Maulana Sheikh Kazim Rahim said that 1400 years ago Imam Hussain had sacrificed his life and remembering this, the followers of Islam all over the world have taken a vow to follow the path of Imam Hussain, with this resolution he is remembered every year. Sacrifice was made in Karbala to keep humanity alive.

During this time, people of Shia community keep fast on the ninth or tenth day of the month of Muharram. Tajias are buried along with the procession of Muharram. On the first day, people used to beat their bodies and bleed, but now this is not done.
