Shimla, July 08: Incidents of theft are coming to light every day in the state’s prestigious hospital IGMC located in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla and the hospital administration remains silent. In such a situation, questions are being raised on the functioning of the security personnel deployed in the hospital.
In the latest incident, CCTV footage of a woman’s bag being stolen in IGMC has gone viral. In this, a man brought a woman’s bag and went to the corner of a room and took out cash from the purse kept in the bag. The accused fled from the spot after throwing the bag.

The most surprising thing is that the person clearly visible in the CCTV footage is none other than the former security guard of IGMC hospital, who was fired from his job due to bad behavior during Covid. This theft case is from the past few days, but its video has gone viral only now.
Let us tell you that a 65-year-old woman from Kumarsain of Shimla district had come to IGMC for treatment.When the woman was getting a checkup from the doctor in the new OPD of the IGMC around 12 noon, she kept the bag on the table.
Meanwhile, the accused picked up the bag and went into a room, took out the cash from the bag and fled leaving the bag there. In this incident, 13 thousand rupees were stolen from the purse kept in the woman’s bag. After this, the woman lodged an FIR regarding the theft at the Lakkar Bazaar police post under Sadar police station.
The interesting thing is that Shimla Police has not been able to arrest the main accused former guard of IGMC in the theft case till now.
IGMC security officer Suman Kaul says that the young man seen stealing the bag in the CCTV footage was earlier a security guard at IGMC.
This incident has also raised questions on the security arrangements of IGMC. The hospital management continuously monitors the CCTV and when such acts are reported, the accused is arrested on the spot. But the hospital management neither got any inkling of the theft nor could the thief be caught till now.
In the entire matter, IGMC MS Dr. Rahul Rao says that all the security personnel have been instructed to make every possible effort to prevent incidents of theft, so that patients and attendants do not face any kind of problem.
