Shimla: 40 hectares of forest property burnt to ashes due to massive fire in Junga forests, thousands of wild animals dead

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, May 30Forty hectares of government forest property has been burnt to ashes due to a fierce fire in the forest adjoining Tehsil Junga in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Along with this, the grasslands of the gardeners have also become victims of the fierce flames of the fire.
Local people told that thousands of animals have died due to suffocation in the fierce fire that broke out in the Junga forest.
Forest Range Officer Koti Rupendra Sharma said that the damage caused to forty hectares of government forest property is being assessed due to the fierce fire in the forests of four forest beats under Koti Range.
In the four beats affected by the fire, Karoli beat, Malancheel beat, Mudaghat beat and Jaghedi Bagh beat, every ten hectares of forest property has become the victim of the fierce fire in the forest.
In all the four beats, Cheel forests are mainly destroyed. Along with this, social worker Durga Singh Thakur of Khil village and head of Nari Sangathan Yog Maya Sharma said that two Gaushalas in Khil village and the temple of Mata Bhimakali in village Pazhatt Kaneri of Padhechi Panchayat have been burnt to ashes due to a fierce forest fire.
Social worker Durga Singh Thakur said that for the past three days, a fierce fire had broken out in Ashwani Khad, adjoining Tehsil Junga, which has now reached the forests of Koti from the adjoining villages Chakhra, Khil Kajewada, Kiyun, Dochi, Kohana.
Social worker Durga Singh Thakur said that the local people are trying day and night to extinguish the fierce fire.
He said that even Sunil’s cowshed of Khil village has been burnt.
He said that all the grass planted by the farmers for the animals has been burnt to ashes. Apple orchards of many gardeners have also fallen prey to the fierce fire.
Social worker Durga Singh Thakur said that thousands of wild animals have died due to the fierce fire in the forest of Junga today.
It is noteworthy that ignoring the necessary advisory issued by the forest department, mischievous elements are causing loss of crores of rupees to the state forest wealth by instigating fierce fire in the forests of many panchayats adjoining Junga.
RO Koti said that the forest department is continuously issuing advisory to all the panchayats of Junga area.RO said that if miscreants are caught inciting fire in the forests adjoining Junga by forcefully consuming drugs, a criminal case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and strict action has been provided.
He also said that if any mischievous element forcibly ignites fire at a distance of hundred meters from the forest land adjoining Junga, then that mischievous element will have to pay a fine of five thousand rupees.
