Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over the state accompanied by thunderstorms lightning and hail at isolated places from late evening on 26th April with peak intensity on 27th April 2024. The weather is going to be worse from tomorrow, according to the Meteorological Centre at Shimla. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning will occur at isolated places in the summer capital Shimla as the present weather seems as cloudy according to the Meteorological Centre Shimla. In catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh like Satluj, Beas, and Ranjit Sagar no significant weather is found. and according to the Meteorological Centre Shimla light rain occurs at isolated places of Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kangra. Also, other areas of Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience bad weather conditions due to Western cyclonic disturbances.

In the past 24 hours, light rain occurred at isolated places over the state.  Within this period, The area of lower Hills like districts Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and the lower part of Mandi, Solan, and Sirmour seems dry, and tomorrow this will change into rainfall. In the area of the Middle Hills like some parts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi rainfall along with snowfall is observed in isolated places.  Tomorrow as well this area will also experience rainfall and snowfall in many places. Whereas, in areas of High Hills like Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti, and some parts of Chamba and Kullu rainfall along with snowfall was observed at many places. And tomorrow this will continue as usual. There has been no large change in minimum temperatures and no large change in maximum temperatures during the last 24 hours. The average minimum temperatures and maximum temperatures were normal. Today the lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong = 2.3 degrees Celsius. Which is lower than yesterday’s lowest temperature. and yesterday, the Maximum temperature was recorded at Una =36.0 Degrees Celsius. Another Western cyclonic disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from tomorrow.

According to the Ministry of Earth Science and Meteorological Department of India. Today the chief amount of snowfall is not traced at any place in Himachal Pradesh. But various areas of Himachal Pradesh received the rainfall today like in Theog, Seo Bagh & Sangla, and Banjar received 13mm of rainfall which is the highest for the day. On the other hand, the area that received the lowest rainfall today is Gohar & Dalhousie ALHA AWS, and the amount of rainfall recorded is 2mm for both areas. There are various other areas where rainfall is recorded like Wangtoo ( 11mm ), Kalpa ( 9.0mm ), Sainj Aws ( 9.0mm ), Reckong Peo Aws ( 7mm ), Kasol ( 5mm ), Sarahan ( 3mm ), Bhuntang Aero ( 3mm ).

According to the Meteorological Centre at Shimla, a weather warning has been issued. On 26th April yellow alert was given by the department for the state which shows that in many places of Himachal Pradesh thunderstorm, lightning accompanied by hail will be seen. And day after tomorrow orange alert in the state has been issued by the authorities. Then for the next three days, a yellow alert will continue.

According to the Ministry of Earth Science and Meteorological Department at Shimla Current Weather over the major cities of Himachal Pradesh is Keylong has the Coolest temperature among the major cities at 13.7 Degrees Celsius, accompanied by a high chance of rain at 99%. Following Keylong, Kufri offers a Slightly warmer climate at 18 Degrees Celsius with a 43% chance of precipitation. Moving on to Shimla, the temperature rises to 23.2 Degree Celsius with a 32% chance of rain. Chamba and Sundernagar both experience warmer temperatures, with Chamba at 32.3 Degrees Celsius and a 27% chance of rain, while Sundernagar records 31.5 Degrees Celsius with a slightly higher chance of rain at 33%. Lastly, Kangra tops the temperature chart at 32.8 Degrees Celsius, but it has the lowest chance of rain among the cities at just 1%.

Himachal Pradesh is experiencing a mix of Sunny and cloudy conditions today, with temperatures ranging from 15 Degrees Celsius to 25 Degrees Celsius across different regions. While some areas might witness brief showers or thunderstorms, overall, it promises to be a pleasant day for residents and tourists alike.  It is advisable to carry an umbrella or raincoat if you are traveling outside, just to be on the safe side.
