In the past 24 hours, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms occurred at isolated places over the state.  Within this period, The area of lower Hills like districts Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and the lower part of Mandi, Solan, and Sirmour rainfall observed at isolated places, and tomorrow this will continue. In the area of the Middle Hills like some parts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi rainfall along with snowfall is observed in a few places.  Tomorrow as well this area will experience rainfall and snowfall in a few places. Whereas, in areas of High Hills like Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti, and some parts of Chamba and Kullu rainfall along with snowfall was observed at many places. And tomorrow this will continue as usual. There has been no large change in minimum temperatures and no large change in maximum temperatures during the last 24 hours. The average minimum temperatures and maximum temperatures were normal. Today the lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong = 0.4 degrees Celsius. Which is lower than yesterday’s lowest temperature. and yesterday, the Maximum temperature was recorded at Una =35.2 Degrees Celsius. Another Western cyclonic disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from 26th April 2024.

 According to the Ministry of Earth Science and Meteorological Department of India. Today the chief amount of snowfall is traced at Keylong. and chief amount of Rainfall is observed at Chamba AWS ( 27.5mm ), Tissa ( 8.0mm ), Bhuntar AERO ( 6.2mm ), Saloni ( 4.2mm ), SEO Bagh ( 3.6mm ), Sangla ( 3.6mm ), Chhatrari ( 3.2mm ), Kukumasheri AWS ( 2.8mm ), Tinder ( 2.4mm ), Banjar ( 2.4mm ), Jogindernagar ( 2.0mm ), Keylong ( 1.3mm ), Palampur ( 1.0mm ) and Kalpa ( 0.6mm ).

 Due to construction work on NH-21, this road is blocked and camp is organized on this highway in two shifts Mandi Police requests all the citizens and tourists to plan their travel accordingly. NH-21 connects Chandigarh to the tourist destination Manali. The closure of NH-21 affects the number of tourists in Himachal Pradesh overall, impacts we will see on the revenue generated by tourists in Himachal Pradesh. In Summer, Manali is the first choice of Tourists due to its weather conditions. This highway will be resumed after its maintenance, authorities are working on this soon it will be resumed for tourists and residents. The travel advisory provided by Lahaul and Spiti police guides the general public that due to the high risk of rockfall and land sliding at Selfie Point, Sissu which is located on NH-3, which covers its route from three states,i.e, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Ladahak and connect these areas. Only emergency vehicles like Ambulances, fire brigades, etc vehicles were allowed to cross through this point and the rest of the vehicles like locals and tourists vehicles could choose alternative routes for traveling. Due to the weather conditions of this area, locals and tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling through this valley. According to the Meteorological Department Centre at Shimla, there are chances of rainfall and snowfall in this area so, in case of rainfall and snowfall, residents and visitors are requested to move to safe places. And in the process of providing a safe place Homestay and hostel owners are requested to help the guest. This advisory is issued by the district commissioner of Lahaul and Spiti in the public interest. Mandi District police administration Sagar Chandra said about the blockage of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. this will block for Four hours every day in two shifts from Monday to Friday. As per the report it will be blocked in two shifts one will be between 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and the other will be between 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.   He also said that Kamand- Kataula road is open for all types of vehicles but, if you are traveling Sundarnagar via Pandoh Gohar Chaulkhowk road it is important to note that this is open only for small vehicles and heavy vehicles have to take alternatives while traveling. This is an important decision which is taken by the National Highway Authority of India. Due to this heavy vehicles have to wait for four hours to travel from this route while small vehicles can enjoy travelling from this road anytime. So, if you are planning to travel via this route by using heavy vehicles then please stay updated with the latest time of closure of this route by authorities. This closure is done for the maintenance of this road.

The Lahaul and Spiti Police, led by Superintendent of Police Mayank Chaudhary, reported that landslides near a popular selfie spot in Sissu have closed transportation between Keylong and Manali. The Border Road Organisation ( BRO ) immediately started their investigation and worked to clear the debris. They aim to reopen the route within 2-3 hours. Mayank Chaudhary requested the police to remain patient, assuring that authorities are working diligently to resolve the issue safely. The road will be resumed after the weather conditions improve

Currently, Jahalma is experiencing heavy congestion similar to a dense fog, primarily due to vehicles parked on both sides of the road and in the park. The local police, under the guidance of Mayank Chaudhary, Mayank Chaudhary, superintendent of police have taken Measures to reduce the situation by instructing the Jahalma Chowki in charge to clear vehicles from one side of the road.

According to the Ministry of Earth Science and  Indian Meteorological Centre at Shimla, the predicted weather today in major states of Himachal Pradesh is, In Shimla, people observe cloudy weather which causes a decrease in temperature and also reduces visibility across the area. If we talk about the weather of catchment areas like Beas, Satluj, and Ranjit Sagar light rain is likely to occur in isolated areas. In other areas of Himachal Pradesh like the District of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul- Spiti there is the possibility of light precipitation. So if you are planning to go outside then carrying an umbrella will be a good option. The Meteorological Department Centre at Shimla issued a weather warning for the next five days. Due to western cyclonic disturbance weather will start deteriorating from 24th April.  So be prepared for upcoming weather whims. and if we talk about districts of Kullu, Kinnaur, Sirmaour, Shimla, Chamba, and Kangra light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning will occur at isolated places. There is the possibility of light precipitation at isolated places in the district of Mandi.

  • Shimla: 20.4 degrees Celsius with 39% Chance of precipitation.
  • Sundernagar: 27.6 Degree Celsius with a 40% chance of precipitation.
  • Kangra: 30.2 degrees Celsius with a 1% chance of precipitation.
  • Chamba: 29.4 degrees Celsius with a 38% chance of precipitation.
  • Kufri: 15.1 degrees Celsius with a 48% chance of precipitation.
  • Keylong:10.9degrees Celsius with a 99% chance of precipitation.
