Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Sundernagar, April 14: Mahakumbh of faith, state level Suket Devta Mela-2024 was inaugurated with Devdhun on Saturday at Jawahar Park. On the occasion of the inauguration, Fisheries Department Director Vivek Chandel participated as the chief guest. Vivek Chandel along with other guests worshiped various Gods and Goddesses at the historical Shukdev Vatika of Sundernagar and also participated in the Jaleb till Jawahar Park.

Addressing the people at Jawahar Park on the occasion of the inauguration, Director of Fisheries Department, Vivek Chandel said that in the rich tradition of fairs organized in Himachal Pradesh, Suket Devta Fair, being celebrated since the princely state, has a prominent place. This fair, organized in the penance place of Shukdev Rishi, is a major center of Dev faith and tradition.

Vivek Chandel said that fairs are the identity of our culture, for the preservation and promotion of which everyone should come forward and work. While this festival will introduce the tourists from outside states to the unique divine culture of Himachal, it will also provide strength to the economy of the state.

On this occasion, a different form of Jaleb was seen. Regarding this, a special team was called to Kotli area Sundernagar. The people of Sundernagar also appreciated this type of initiative in Jaleb.

Terror of the helpless animals roaming on the streets was also seen during the Jaleb organized to mark the inauguration of the state level Suket Devta Mela-2024. When Jaleb reached near the rest house, the helpless animals standing on the road were frightened by the beats of drums. After this, while searching for shelter, they entered the middle of Jaleb and the special team cart of Mandi Police and the local police present at the spot were left sweating. The helpless animals did not even agree and started attacking the policemen. In a hurry, after a lot of effort, the helpless animals were chased away from the water by the police personnel.

On this occasion, SDM Girish Samra, Tehsildar Ankit Sharma, DSP Bharatbhushan, Police Station Incharge Sundernagar Nanak Chand, Municipal Council Executive Chairman Hitesh Sharma, BDO Vivek Chauhan, CDPO Shiv Singh and other officers and employees were present.
