Due to heavy rains and floods in Kullu district in the past, the district administration is working on a war footing to bring life back on track. Kullu District Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg said that the administration is constantly trying to open the main roads and connectivity routes and restore transport services in the district.

He said that the closed National Highway between district Kullu and Mandi has now been restored and transport services have started on this road. The Deputy Commissioner said that Volvo buses have not started operating in Kullu as the road Work is being done in some areas. He said that bus services have been started from Kullu to Manali via Patlikul Nagar. This bus is going from Kullu to Patlikul Nagar bridge. One can go to Manali from a place called Mahili on the other side of the Kar bridge.

Connectivity has been maintained between these two buses by establishing coordination.The Deputy Commissioner also directed the BSNL officials to repair the damaged fiber to Banjar Sainj.Ashutosh Garg Said that 648 drinking water schemes in the district have been affected due to floods, out of which 361 schemes have been restored. He said that the work of ensuring power supply is also in progress. Eleven hundred and four transformers out of forty nine trans farmers are working smoothly.

As far as the restoration work is concerned, now it has been almost a week since the heavy rains started on the evening of 8th and during this period a lot of good restoration work has been done by all our departments in our entire district. And in this if we talk about road restoration, then our national highway, now from Kullu to Mandi national highways is also now through for all kinds of traffic, which was the stretch from Pandoh to Mandi beach, which was also blocked till yesterday. It has been made through today and now we have two connectivity from Kullu to Manali, one through risen bridge and the other which is Patlikul bridge, it has also been restored today.

So both the connectivity which is functional at present is Patlikul. The bridge which is currently functional only for light vehicles. Efforts are being made to make it functional for heavy vehicles as well. As far as water space schemes are concerned, almost more than six hundred schemes were affected. And more than three hundred schemes have been restored in it. HPSEBL had 1800 plus transformers which were affected, out of which about eleven hundred transformers have been made operational smoothly.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the district and continuous supply of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and other items has been ensured. Instructions have been given to ensure the supply of medicines. He said that medicines are being sent to far-flung hospitals of the district. The Deputy Commissioner said that eleven important bridges have been washed away and damaged due to rains in the district. Instructed the officers to install suspension bridges in place of the bridges damaged due to floods in their areas so that traffic in those areas could be celebrated safely.
