Kullu: Avalanche Near Dhundhi Bridge, Manali-Keylong Road Remained Closed For One And A Half Hour
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Manali (Kullu), March 18: Manali-Keylong road remained closed for traffic for about one and a half hours on Sunday night. An avalanche occurred near Dhundhi bridge on Sunday night. Due to this the road was closed for vehicular movement from both sides. Lahaul District Disaster Management stopped the movement of vehicles after the avalanche. As soon as BRO received information about closure of Manali-Keylong road, the team reached the spot and started the work of restoring the road.
After much effort, the Manali-Keylong road was restored after one and a half hours. The Manali-Keylong road, which was closed at 10:00 pm, was reopened by BRO at 11:30 pm. There has been heavy snowfall around Atal Tunnel Rohtang. In such a situation, there is a danger of avalanche at many places.
DSP Manali KD Sharma said that traffic has now been restored on Manali-Keylong road.

From Monday, tourists were also allowed to travel in four by four vehicles. Here, tourists who come to enjoy picnic in tourist city Manali will also be able to see Atal Tunnel. The administration has started sending tourists ahead of Solanganala in four by four vehicles.
However, other tourist vehicles are not allowed to go beyond Solanganala at present. In view of the possibility of black ice on the road, a time limit has been set for tourists. Tourists will be able to go beyond Solangnala only from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
All types of vehicles are going till Solanganala. Tourists reached Solanganala in large numbers on Monday and frolicked amidst the snow. Many tourists reached the snowy valleys of Lahaul through Atal Tunnel. Crowds of tourists gathered from Solanganala to Fataru.

Kumarhatti-Solan bypass remained closed for five hours –
Rocks fell near Galyana Pani near Shamlech Nature Retreat on Kumarhatti-Solan bypass on Kalka-Shimla National Highway 5. Due to this the bypass remained closed for about five hours. The police diverted the movement of vehicles from Kumarhatti-Barog-Solan. The landslide on the bypass occurred around 7:30 am. The fortunate thing was that no vehicle was passing at the time when stones started falling on the road. Drivers faced a lot of problems after the landslide.
