Kargil Victory Day was celebrated today at the martyr’s memorial located at MC park, Una. On this occasion, ex-servicemen from all over the district and ex-servicemen who participated in the Kargil war reached the martyr’s memorial, protecting the Kargil warriors and the borders of the country. The ceremony was organized under the leadership of the Ex-Servicemen League. On this occasion, Captain Shakti Chand and Rajendra Kumar Sharma said that the soldiers and officers of the army had displayed their bravery and bravery in the Kargil war.
He said – This Kargil operation was fought, it was fought on our own soil, because we leave the Kargil posts in the second week of October. It was an agreement between our two countries here, that We will leave those posts after the second week of October till October 15 and by going to the month of May, April end and again we will capture and occupy its post.
But in 99, Pakistan was a rogue country, as soon as we vacated the post and their army occupied our posts and because of that we had a 1 to 1 infantry brigade which was also in Kargil but they occupied it.
Because of that they were above the height. Which was our post and their aim was to dominate the target which goes on our decor road. And they had covered it completely. If for some reason they would have captured our road. Our entire ladakh area would have been cut off like this too. So it means to say that this battle was fought on one’s own land.
Kargil Day, which was first celebrated in district Una in Himachal Pradesh, was not celebrated at that time in Himachal. The first Kargil Day we celebrated was built on top of the Kalia role pump.
