Shimla News : Rivers and drains are in spate amid heavy rains in the state
Monsoon continues to be active in the state and monsoon woes are continuing. Today, two houses, a school, seventeen sheep, goats and a cow were swept away by the strong current of water in Kandahar village of Sarpara Panchayat of Rampur Mandal in Shimla district.
After this incident, the villagers are in panic and have left their homes and gone to safer places. Due to heavy rains Naini and Kunnikhads of Rampur division have also been flooded. Due to heavy rains and landslides, the Hindustan Tibet road has been blocked near Jhankri, Baronigarh and debt jury near jury.
Incessant rains and landslides are hampering the restoration of traffic on this route. National Highway authorities have deployed machinery on the spot and efforts are on to open the road. However, traffic on the road in Kinnaur district is normal and all buses are being sent towards Shimla as per schedule.
On the other hand, the sequence of heavy rains continues in Sirmour district. It has been raining heavily since late night in most parts of the district. Due to this, the Paonta Sahib Silai National Highway is blocked at many places. More than two dozen link roads are also blocked in the district. Due to which the traffic has been badly affected.
Due to heavy rains, all the river drains of the district are in spate. Due to heavy rains, the flood gates of Jathon dam built on Giri river have been opened since last night. In view of this, the district administration has instructed the people in the river areas to be alert. According to the administration, due to the opening of the front gate, people may also have to face the situation due to water logging and floods in the low-lying areas.
The order of rain continues in Sirmaur district. Many areas of the district have received heavy rains late night, including the area around Nahan including the district headquarters. Due to heavy rains, once again many link roads have been blocked for traffic, including NH seven hundred seven, Paota, Sahishillai, Guma.
The rain continues to disturb the traffic in the district. Due to the rain, the water level of the river drains has increased once again. Due to the increase in the water level of Giri river, two gates of Girij toned game have been opened and after that landslide and flood alert has been issued for the plains today. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of heavy rains in many districts of the state, including district Sirmaur. Not going to get it.
