Fifty-five people, who were stranded in Indora sub-division of Kangra district due to rapid flow of Beas river, were rescued by the rescue team this morning. Due to the release of water from the Pong dam, the water level of the Beas river increased, due to which these people were trapped in Gandara and Mayani villages on the banks of the river and the NDRF team started the rescue work at 10.30 pm, which continued till 5 am today.

The Deputy Commissioner told that the rescue team has done a commendable job and the rescue operation went on throughout the night. He said that after heavy rains, the rivers and drains of the district are in spate. In such a situation, people need to take precautions.

He said – The gates of the pong dam were opened three to four days ago. In this mainly our area of Satarpur and Indora seems to be Mandwala, many incidents have come to light in that area, in which many people have come.

And in this, our evaporation and rescue operations are going on continuously for the last three days. The day before night, an evaporation operation was carried out in Bhindra and Maini, yesterday, an evaporation operation was carried out in Maini and even today, as soon as information is received about some people being trapped in an area inside this section, the NDRF was also given a reputation and the operation of the department is being carried out at this time.

So I would like to make this appeal to the people, first of all, as I said that the most pressing issue at this time is water, that is the biggest issue, so do not go near the river at all in all the areas, if you have animals there, then they should also be regulated safely by taking them to some spot.
