In the meeting of Himachal Pradesh University Executive Council held on Thursday under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor Pro. SP Basanl, great relief has been given to thousands of students from all over Himachal Pradesh. In the meeting, students who are not able to complete the examinations of various degree courses within the stipulated time period are going to be given a chance to take the examination and complete their degree. In this first meeting of the year 2024, the EC members expressed gratitude to the Union Education Ministry for releasing a grant of Rs 100 crore to the university under Meru and congratulated the university community. In the meeting, it was decided to adopt and implement all the notifications of UGC under MERU from this very session.

It has also been decided to adopt other guidelines including four-year UG degree program in NEP in Himachal Pradesh University. A decision on the implementation of the National Education Policy is yet to be taken. A separate committee will be formed for this, which will decide the further process. The proposal to start two add-on courses in every department from the new session has been approved in EC. The EC decided to reserve four male and four female hostel seats to the beneficiaries of Sukhashraya Scheme soon and the system of allotting these seats is going to be decided soon.

The EC approved the proposal to start coaching batches for civil services from the month of April, in which reputed coaching institutes are going to provide coaching. In the meeting, the appointment has been approved after the interview for four posts for teacher recruitment in the Forensic and Biotechnology Department of the University.

In the meeting, 19 proposals from the Standing Committee of the Academic Council of the University were approved. It also includes proposals to update the curriculum of Environmental Science, BHM and other courses. In this, no one eligible and qualified has been found for one post. The EC has also decided to include officials from various organizations in the Housing Allocation Committee for Non-Teaching Employees, so that houses can be allotted to the eligible employees.

The Executive Council has decided to make assistant and associate professors of colleges eligible to become external examiners for the examinations of practical subjects of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects.

In the meeting, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajindra Verma, MLA Harish Janartha, Suresh Kumar, Special Secretary Finance Vinay Kumar (online), Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Sharma, DS Prof. BK Shivaram, Prof. DD Sharma, Prof. Arvind Kalia, Registrar, Dr. Virendra Sharma, Prof. Sanjay Sandhu, Prof. Neelima Kanwar, Prof. Prashant Gautam, Dr. Mandeep Sharma, Dr. Vikas Singh and non-teaching member Geeta Ram were present.
