Himachal Pradesh Today Weather: In the past 24 hrs, The area of lower Hills like districts Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and lower part of Mandi, Solan, and Sirmour have experienced rainfall in most places and tomorrow is a chance of rainfall in isolated places. In the area of the Middle Hills like some parts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi rainfall is observed in most places and tomorrow as well there is a chance of rainfall at a few places in these hills. Whereas, in areas of High Hills like Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti, and some parts of Chamba and Kullu rainfall along with mild snowfall was observed and tomorrow this remains the same. But there is no large change in the minimum and maximum temperature during the last 24 hours. The average minimum temperatures were normal and maximum temperatures were markedly below normal. Today the lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong = 2.7 degrees Celsius and yesterday, the Maximum temperature was recorded at Poanta Sahib=32.0 Degrees Celsius. A fresh Western Disturbance will likely affect northwest India from 18th April 2024. A western cyclonic disturbance refers to a weather phenomenon characterized by the movement of a cyclonic circulation system from west to east. This disturbance typically originated from the Mediterranean Sea or northern Africa and traveled eastward, affecting regions such as the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. this disturbance often brings significant changes in weather patterns, leading to precipitation, strong winds, and fluctuation in temperatures. Additionally, forecasting models are used to trace the movement and intensity of these disturbances, providing valuable information for disaster preparedness and response efforts.

According to the weather and road status provided by Lahaul & Spiti police on 15 April until 0900 hrs. There are several observations and updates on the weather conditions and road statuses across various districts of Himachal Pradesh. Areas of Keylong, Kaza, and Sumdo experience different weather patterns, with Keylong encountering rainfall. At the same time, Kazaa and Sumdo report cloudy conditions which lead to diffused sunlight and cooler temperatures across these areas of Kaza & Sumdo of Himachal Pradesh. Despite the varying weather, the road status at these stations remains open, allowing for uninterrupted travel for visitors as well as residents. The area of Udaipur and Tindi similar to the area of Keylong, experience light rainfall while rain can make roads slippery and affect visibility, the road status at these locations is reported as “ Through” indicating that no road closures or obstructions while traveling through these roads. Also, the residents and visitors of this area will not face any difficulty due to road blockage. These roads are opened till another order is passed by the District Disaster Management Authority of Himachal Pradesh. Per the report published on 12th April Surrender Paul, the director of the Meteorological Center at Shimla attributed the shift in weather conditions between 13th April to 15th April 2024. And also from 18th April a Western Cylonic Disturbance will likely change the weather pattern of Himachal Pradesh. The area of Sisu, North Portal, or South Portal experiences Rainfall as usual like yesterday, and rainfall leads to wet or slippery road conditions. However, despite the rain, the road status is reported as “Through” which means these roads are also open for visitors and residents to travel but travelers are advised to exercise caution due to wet road conditions, which may increase the risk of accidents in these areas of Himachal Pradesh. Visitors and Residents will also not suffer from road blockage in these areas. These roads are also opened till further orders are passed by the District Disaster Management Authority of Himachal Pradesh.

According to the Ministry of Earth Science and Meteorological Department of India, In  Shimla, there is the possibility of light precipitation because the sky seems cloudy. And in areas of Satluj and Beas, there is also a chance of light to moderate precipitation at many places. In the area of Ranjit Nagar, there is a chance of light precipitation in isolated places. There is the possibility of light precipitation at a few places in the districts of Chamba, Lahaul–Spiti, and Kinnaur. And also there is the possibility of light precipitation at isolated places in the remaining district of Himachal Pradesh.

Ministry of Earth Science and India Meteorological Department center at Shimla issued a warning for the weather of Himachal Pradesh for the next 5 days between these days there are chances of Heavy rainfall, Thunderstorm, accompanied by lightning, gusty winds ( 40-50 km), and hail at isolated places of Himachal Pradesh. According to Surrender Paul, Director of the Meteorological Department at Shimla thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to be experienced by residents and visitors at many places in Himachal Pradesh.

  • Shimla: 14.8 degrees Celsius with 63% Chance of precipitation.
  • Sundernagar: 16.6 Degree Celsius with a 93% chance of precipitation.
  • Kangra: 23.3 Degrees Celsius with a 0% chance of precipitation.
  • Chamba: 17.6 Degree Celsius with a 100% chance of precipitation.
  • Kufri: 13.2 degrees Celsius with a 73% chance of precipitation.
  • Keylong:2.2degrees Celsius with a 99% chance of precipitation.
