Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that after the restoration of the Manali-Chandigarh road, 2,500 vehicles have been sent out of the Kullu Valley.
Talking to reporters in Kullu, the Chief Minister said that the priority of the government is to send tourists out of the state safely.
He said that about 7,000 vehicles are still stranded at Manikarna, Banjar and other places in Kullu. The Chief Minister said that so far more than 50 per cent stranded tourists from Kullu Valley have been sent out of the state safely.
He said that Revenue Minister Jagatsingh Negi and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi would oversee the rescue operation launched to evacuate the stranded tourists at Chandratal in Lahaul-Spiti.
He said that Jagat Singh Negi and Sanjay Awasthi will remain in Chandratal till the rescue operation continues and will give necessary instructions for the success of the rescue operation.
