The electricity department keeps the electricity supply disrupted in the city on fixed days in the name of repairing the equipment. This power supply is interrupted so that all equipment can be properly tested. During this period, improvements are made in the lines, poles and transformers to ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during the rainy season. The light rain that fell late on Friday night exposed the electricity department. The electricity supply was restored by the department after 10 am, but even after that, cuts continued throughout the day.
Due to these electricity cuts, working people as well as the general public had to face problems. Local people say that power failure due to light rain has become a common thing. When SDO of the Electricity Department, Akshay Kumar was talked to in this regard, he said that due to the strong storm and rain, the phases of the transformer were blown due to branches of trees falling on the lines in some parts adjoining the city, due to which the power supply was disrupted. Electricity supply has been started normally after 10 am.
