Himachal Pradesh Energy Board has successfully obtained license from Himachal Pradesh Information and Technology Department to link electricity meters of all domestic consumers with Aadhaar numbers.
Himachal Pradesh Energy Department officials said that in order to make cheap electricity available to all domestic consumers, the amount of special subsidy given annually by the Himachal Pradesh government has been increased by more than Rs 500 crore.

If the electricity bill is in the slab above Rs 300, consumers will get a subsidy of 0.65 paise per unit as per the new electricity rates of Rs 5.22.
