Kumud Sharma – Water supply scheme from Alikhad in Solan district is being opposed by eight gram panchayats in Triveni Ghat on the border of Bilaspur and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh. Former minister Ramlal Thakur said that with the formation of this scheme, 35 drinking water and irrigation schemes worth crores of rupees based on Alikhad in Bilaspur district will be closed. An attempt was made to make this scheme also in the year 1992 but at that time the tender of this scheme was canceled by the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

He alleged that the construction of this scheme was started in 2019 during the time of the former BJP government and a demand was made by former Jal Shakti Minister Mahendra Singh Thakur to close this scheme, but Mahendra Singh gave assurance of closing the scheme. Assurance was given to the public but the water supply scheme was not stopped, rather the work of making main pipeline and tank from the Dadla Ghat side for the scheme was also started.

Former minister Ramlal Thakur said that politics is being done by BJP leaders on the entire issue.

Guman Singh, convener of Himalaya Niti Abhiyan, has demanded immediate intervention from Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on this issue.

Guman Singh said that BJP leaders want to make commercial use of the water supply scheme by taking water to the Ambuja Cement Factory Management Plant, which is unfortunate.
