In a significant step towards strengthening rural power infrastructure, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday virtually inaugurated a newly constructed 33/11 kV power substation at Ansla, near Patlandar in the Sujanpur Assembly constituency. Built at a cost of ₹7.54 crore, the project is expected to provide reliable electricity to nearly 16,000 residents across 16 gram panchayats.

The new power substation has been developed to address the long-standing problems of low voltage, frequent power outages, and unstable electricity supply that have affected residents in the region for years.

Speaking during the virtual inauguration, Chief Minister Sukhu said that a 7.2-kilometre 33 kV high-tension transmission line has been laid between Chabutra and Ansla to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply to the newly commissioned substation.

The improved infrastructure will benefit villages under gram panchayats including Patlandar, Rangar, Chauri, Ansla, Bhagol, Chamiyana, Duhak, Bhatera, Panoh, Dhail, Kasiri, Peepal, Tikkaru, Sapahal, along with several adjoining areas.

According to the Chief Minister, the substation will provide electricity through the 11 kV Kot Chauri, Sujanpur, Patlandar, and Palahi feeders. It has also been interconnected with the existing 33 kV substations at Tauni Devi and Sujanpur, ensuring uninterrupted power supply even during emergencies or technical disruptions.

Sukhu said the project has been designed keeping the region’s future electricity demand in mind. The interconnected feeder system and shorter transmission lines will help reduce power losses while ensuring better voltage stability and improved service reliability.

He also acknowledged that the issue of poor electricity supply in the area had been consistently raised by the Sujanpur MLA, adding that the government remains committed to upgrading infrastructure that directly improves the quality of life for people living in rural Himachal Pradesh.

The commissioning of the Ansla power substation is expected to significantly strengthen the local power distribution network and support the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize electricity infrastructure in remote and semi-rural regions.
