The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a decisive victory in the Shillai Block Development Committee (BDC) elections on Monday, winning both the chairperson and vice-chairperson posts and reinforcing its organisational strength at the grassroots level.

The 15-member committee witnessed participation from nine BJP-backed members, while six Congress-supported representatives remained absent during the election proceedings. According to Shillai SDM Jaspal, the mandatory quorum of eight members was successfully met with the presence of nine elected representatives.

As only one nomination was filed for each post, Vinita Chauhan was elected unanimously as the Chairperson of the Shillai BDC, while Balak Ram Chauhan was chosen unopposed as the Vice-Chairperson.

Following the announcement of the results, BJP workers celebrated the victory with a procession from the Block Development Office to the Shillai market. The celebrations were led by former MLA Baldev Tomar and concluded at the PWD Rest House, where party leaders addressed supporters and described the outcome as an important milestone for the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Tomar termed the result a victory for BJP workers at the grassroots level. He stated that the mandate reflects growing public trust in the party’s organisational network and commitment to local development initiatives.

Tomar also expressed gratitude to the elected members for their support and said the BJP remains focused on strengthening rural development efforts in the region. He further expressed confidence that the party would achieve similar success in the upcoming Tilordhar Block Development Committee elections.

The outcome is being viewed as another boost for the BJP’s presence in local governance institutions, highlighting its continued influence in rural areas of the constituency.
