In a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in governance, Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Justice (Retd) Chander Bhushan Barowalia on Friday presented the institution’s annual report to Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan.

During the meeting, Justice Barowalia and the Governor held detailed discussions regarding the functioning of the Lokayukta and several issues linked to public interest and grievance redressal in the state.

Governor Kavinder Gupta emphasized the vital role of the Lokayukta in a democratic system. He stated that institutions like the Lokayukta are essential for ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance, while also strengthening public confidence in the administrative system.

The Governor expressed hope that the Himachal Lokayukta would continue to perform its responsibilities with fairness, honesty and transparency, maintaining the trust of the people.

Justice (Retd) Chander Bhushan Barowalia thanked the Governor for his support and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the quick, impartial and effective resolution of public grievances. He said the Lokayukta remains dedicated to serving the people with integrity and responsibility.

The meeting also highlighted the growing importance of independent institutions in addressing citizens’ concerns and promoting clean governance in Himachal Pradesh.
