Kangra News : 852 gram charas seized in Kangra, three arrested

According to the police, a district team on routine night patrol received specific information that two occupants of a car parked in the Kachari area of Kangra city were allegedly carrying a large quantity of charas. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team reached the spot and intercepted the vehicle (HP-01C-1940).
During a search of the car, the police recovered 852 grams of charas.
The two occupants were identified as Ram Lal, a resident of Dhamer village in Padhar tehsil of Mandi district, and Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Markhan village, also in Padhar tehsil of Mandi district. Both were arrested on the spot and the vehicle was impounded.
Based on their disclosures during interrogation, the police later arrested a third accomplice involved in the drug smuggling racket.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Rattan said an FIR has been registered at Kangra police station under Sections 20, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He added that further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages.
The SP said patrolling, intelligence gathering and naka checking have been intensified across the district as part of the state government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign.
