Tragic Accident in Narkanda Apple Orchard: Father Dies, Son Hospitalized After Tree Falls on Them
Shimla, 01 February: A devastating accident occurred in an apple orchard in Narkanda, Shimla district, when a tree fell on a father and son working in the orchard. The father tragically lost his life, while his son was critically injured and has been referred to IGMC Shimla for further treatment. The incident took place on the evening of January 31.
At 7:16 pm, Theog Police Station informed the Narkanda Police Outpost that two individuals—Til Bahadur (58) and his son Karna (30), both from Nepal—had been brought to the Community Health Center (CHC) Theog by their family members. Despite the doctors’ efforts, Til Bahadur was declared dead on arrival. Karna, severely injured, was immediately referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla for advanced treatment.
Accident Occurs While Working in the Orchard
According to the family, the accident took place in the Ekantbari apple orchard, which belongs to Suresh Verma. Til Bahadur and Karna were in the process of pruning the trees when, unexpectedly, an apple tree became uprooted and fell on them, causing serious injuries. In a desperate attempt to save them, the family rushed both victims to the nearby Theog Hospital, but doctors could not save Til Bahadur. The police promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident and spoke to eyewitnesses for more information.
Ongoing Investigation into the Incident
While the exact cause of the tree’s uprooting remains unclear, police are examining whether it was due to natural factors, such as a storm or weak roots, or whether human negligence may have played a role. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the true reason behind the incident and to ensure that proper measures are taken to prevent such accidents in the future.
