  • The licencing of nano DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) fertiliser, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a substantial step towards making farmers’ lives easier.
  • PM Modi stated that it was a significant step towards fertiliser independence.
  • Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, announced on Saturday that the government has approved the release of nano liquid DAP (di -ammonium phosphate) fertiliser for the agricultural community’s benefit and to boost the nation’s self-sufficiency.
  • The government has granted permission for the release of the nano DAP fertiliser, according to fertiliser cooperation IFFCO, which launched nano liquid urea in 2021.
  • Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet that, “After nano urea, the government has now given approval to nano DAP as well.”
  • Awasthi had previously stated in December that IFFCO would soon introduce nano DAP at a price of Rs 600 for a 500-ml bottle.
  • This action will aid India in saving foreign currency and drastically cut down on government subsidies.
  • The price of one bag of DAP, which currently costs Rs. 1,350, will be equal to one bottle.
  • After urea, DAP is the second most popular fertiliser in the nation. Of the estimated 10–12.5 million tonnes of DAP used annually, only around 4-5 million tonnes are produced locally; the remainder must be imported.
  • Nano DAP is also anticipated to help reduce the non-urea yearly subsidy.
  • He has previously stated that IFFCO also intended to introduce nano-potash, nano-zinc, and nano-copper fertilisers.
