Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday encouraged young people to move beyond traditional career paths and become “job makers” instead of simply “job seekers”, highlighting the growing importance of innovation, entrepreneurship and skill-based education in India’s future.

Addressing students during the “Yuva Sangam – Phase 6” programme organised at Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamsala, the Governor said India’s youth are the country’s biggest strength and must prepare themselves for a rapidly changing technological world.

The programme was organised under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative in line with the National Education Policy 2020. Students from several institutions participated in the event, including a delegation from National Institute of Technology Puducherry.

Focus on AI, Machine Learning and Emerging Technologies

During his address, Governor Gupta urged students to explore emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science, stating that these fields will play a major role in India’s economic and technological growth in the coming years.

He said the youth should adopt innovation-driven thinking and focus on entrepreneurship and skill development to create opportunities not only for themselves but also for others.

“India’s future growth will depend on innovation, technology and skilled youth,” the Governor said while encouraging students to embrace modern professional opportunities.

Governor Stresses Holistic Education and Cultural Values

Highlighting the importance of holistic education, the Governor said learning should not remain limited to obtaining degrees or securing jobs. Instead, he stressed that students must become socially responsible and ethical citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to society and nation-building.

He also spoke about the importance of balanced personality development, adding that academic excellence should go hand in hand with leadership skills, social responsibility and moral values.

At the same time, he advised students to stay connected to India’s cultural roots while embracing technological advancement and modern education.

Yuva Sangam Promotes National Integration

In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal described Yuva Sangam as an important platform for strengthening emotional and cultural integration among students from different parts of the country.

He said India’s real strength lies in its diversity and such programmes help young people understand different languages, traditions and social practices while promoting mutual respect and national unity.

Chancellor Prof Harmohinder Bedi also highlighted the importance of dialogue, coexistence and cultural harmony in a multicultural society.

The event featured cultural performances by students from various states, reflecting the spirit of national integration, youth empowerment and cultural exchange.
