Shimla, August 23: There are immense possibilities of tourism in Himachal Pradesh. To promote the tourism sector in the state, the state government is preparing a proposal for a new air route connecting Chandigarh-Kullu-Dharamshala. The objective of this initiative is to ensure an increase in the movement of tourists between the two major tourist destinations of the state, for which discussions are being held with the concerned airlines company and other agencies. In this, the tourism sector will get a boost through a new direct air service between Kullu and Dharamshala and better air facilities will be available to the tourists.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is committed to providing better tourism facilities in the state. He said that many new steps are being taken to attract well-equipped tourists and air services are being strengthened in this direction. Himachal Pradesh is full of supernatural beauty and there are immense possibilities of tourism here. The state government is ensuring an increase in the number of tourists by developing better tourism infrastructure, which will strengthen the regional economy. The increasing number of tourists in the state will provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the people.
As a result of the holistic and inclusive efforts of the state government, various tourist places of the state are being connected to other parts of the country through air services. Delhi-Shimla-Delhi, Shimla-Dharamshala-Shimla air services are being made available to the people daily and Amritsar-Shimla-Amritsar and Amritsar-Kullu-Amritsar air services three days a week. Along with increasing air travel facilities in the state, the state government is also developing new heliports. The state government has released Rs 13 crore for the construction of heliports at Rakkar and Palampur in Kangra district, the tourism capital of the state, Chamba and Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district.
The Chief Minister said that in the Himalayan geographical area like Himachal Pradesh, heliports will prove to be helpful in attracting tourists and making their travel easier. He said that in case of emergency, these heliports will be helpful in providing quick assistance to the local people. Keeping in mind their importance, the state government is constructing heliports in all the district headquarters of the state.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government has declared Kangra district as the tourism capital of Himachal. For the convenience of tourists, the necessary tourism infrastructure is being upgraded in the district. In this direction, the Kangra airport is being expanded, for which the process of land acquisition has been started.
He said that with the expansion of this airport, big aircraft will be able to land here and this will also reduce the cost of air travel. This step of the state government will increase the movement of tourists in the area and the local people will get employment and self-employment opportunities directly and indirectly.
