Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 04Counting of votes for the by-elections held on six assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh is going on. Votes are being counted at all six counting centers. In the initial trends on the six assembly by-election seats, there is a fierce competition between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. At present, BJP is leading on three seats and Congress on two seats. Also, an independent candidate is leading in one seat.

In the latest update released by the Election Commission, BJP’s Sudhir Sharma is leading by 615 votes from Dharamshala assembly seat, Inderdutt Lakhanpal is leading by 1031 votes from Barsar assembly seat and Davinder Bhutto is leading by 397 votes from Kutlehar assembly seat.

Also, Captain Ranjit Singh Rana of Congress is leading by 1351 votes from Sujanapur assembly seat and Rakesh Kalia is leading by 851 votes from Gagret.

Independent candidate Ramlal Markanda is leading by 1354 votes from Lahaul-Spiti assembly seat. Congress candidate is in second place.

It is worth noting that after six MLAs of Congress party joined BJP, voting process for by-election on six seats was completed on June 1.At present, the total number of members of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is 59, out of which 34 are from the ruling Congress party and 25 are from the opposition BJP.
