Himachal Shocked: Government Employees Also Became Chitta Smugglers, Three Caught…One Teacher Absconding
Additional Superintendent of Police Sagar Chandra said that all the arrested accused are on police remand for three days. Further action is being implemented in all the cases. The police will now conduct an NDRF search operation in Suketi Khad near Pulgharat to search for the absconding accused teacher.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Mandi, April 05: During the blockade in Mandi district last three days, Mandi police have recovered 56.64 chittas. The surprising thing is that government school teachers and government employees are involved in this black business of chitta. Who supply Chitta in Mandi city and its surrounding areas. Police have arrested five accused in a total of three cases, while one accused is still absconding. Three of these five accused are government employees. These government employees were doing all this to meet their expenses.
According to the information received from the police, in the first case, three days ago, some suppliers from Punjab and Haryana had supplied Chitta to the local people in the Mandi. Both of them are government employees, one of them is a primary school teacher and the other is posted as Electricity Board JOA IT. As soon as these people went out to supply Chitta on Tuesday night, the police caught them near Pulgharat and recovered 12.66 grams of Chitta from them.
During the action at the spot, both the accused escaped by dodging the police and jumped down about 30 feet towards Suketi Khad. The police cordoned off both sides of the ravine and tried to catch them. Out of which one of the accused, Rahul (posted as JOA IT), has been caught by the police team. The second accused Rishi Raj (government teacher) has managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and the search is going on. To search for it, the police called the SDRF team to the spot and conducted a search operation, but no clue was found.

In the second case of Chitta, the team of Sadar police station has recovered 32.37 grams of Chitta from the possession of the accused Harish, resident of Thunag, posted as T-mate in the Electricity Board, and his partner Vinayak, resident of Chamba, during the blockade. The delivery of this consignment was also given to them by smugglers from outside states near Mandi bus stand. These two accused were taking this consignment towards Janjehli. But the police caught him near Bindrabani itself. In the third case of Chitta, the team of Sadar police station has recovered 11.61 grams of Chitta from Rakesh Kumar and Deepak Kumar residents of Padhar during the naka.
