Forest Divisional Officer, Sundernagar, Rakesh Katoch said that 20 days ago, a video of a python from Cholthara village in Mandi district had gone viral, information about which was received by the Forest Department team. The department team reached the spot, but had to return empty handed. On Sunday, once again the department team received information about the sighting of a python, on which the team reached the spot and rescued the python safely after four hours of hard work.

Rakesh Katoch said that for the conservation and rescue of snakes, it is necessary to take permission under the section of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. There is also a provision for action against such people who are caught rescuing snakes without permission. Snakes are an important part of biodiversity and the food chain, it is the ultimate responsibility of all of us to save them.
Appealing to the people, he said that if any such snake is seen then they should inform the Forest Department team so that it can be rescued in time.
