Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday said the new mineral policy aims to promote scientific technology for mining activities in Himachal Pradesh with more emphasis on environmental protection. CM Sukhu said that the new Mineral Policy-2024 will ensure responsible exploitation of the mining wealth of Himachal Pradesh and will provide employment opportunities to the people of Himachal Pradesh by promoting sustainable mining system.

Emphasizing on transparency and efficiency in administration, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that an integrated online portal will be developed to regulate mining activities and streamline the processes related to it. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the Himachal Pradesh government is taking new initiatives to generate income for the state. The new policy reflects the government commitment to enhance revenue sources for the state by curbing illegal mining activities.

CM Sukhu said that the Himachal Pradesh government has taken several steps to protect the resources of the state and exploit the mineral resources in an environment-friendly and scientific manner.

80 mining guards will be recruited: CM Sukhu

To curb illegal mining activities, Himachal Pradesh government will soon recruit 80 mining guards in the Industries Department. CM Sukhu said that the efforts of Himachal government to earn revenue are bearing fruit. CM Sukhu said that all the avenues of corruption have been closed and due to the honest efforts of the Himachal Government, additional revenue of about Rs 2200 crore has been obtained.

CM Sukhu said that the revenue has increased through auction and tenders of liquor contracts in a transparent manner.
