The third Kisan Mahapanchayat is going to be organized on March 3 in protest against the Kikar-Navgaon drinking water scheme being built in Ali Khad on the Bilaspur-Solan border.
The Sangharsh Committee is going to invite national farmer leaders Rakesh Tikait, Yudhveer Singh, Baldev Singh Sirsa and environmentalist Medha Patkar to participate in the Mahapanchayat.
On Saturday, a meeting of the officials of the Sangharsh Committee and the Convenor Committee was held at the movement site Trivenighat. It has been decided in the meeting that on March 3, the third Kisan Mahapanchayat Ali Khad Bachao Abhiyan, Trivenighat Chalo is going to be organized at the protest site.
A public awareness campaign is going to be conducted before the Mahapanchayat. Through the Mahapanchayat, the villagers of the affected panchayats are going to be informed about the damage caused by the drinking water scheme being built on Ali Khad. Also, invitation for Mahapanchayat is going to be given.
Chairman of the Struggle Committee, Rajneesh Sharma said that farmer leaders associated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union and the National Farmers Movement are being called for the third Mahapanchayat.
Apart from this, national officials of Tower Line Shoshit Manch, social organizations of the state and old political leaders are also going to be called in this Mahapanchayat.
Rajneesh Sharma said that it has been 32 days since the movement, but the demand of farmers and villagers to cancel the scheme has not been met. Now it is necessary to give a bigger shape to the movement. This movement is going to continue until the scheme is cancelled.
