Himachal Pradesh : Chopal Development Gets Rs 350 Crore Push; New Roads and Major Infrastructure Projects in Pipeline
Himachal Pradesh’s Chopal Assembly constituency is set to receive a major infrastructure boost, with development projects worth around Rs 350 crore currently underway and several new road projects in the pipeline.

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh made the announcement during his one-day visit to Chopal, where he attended the closing ceremony of the Vishu Fair at Nanhar. During the visit, the minister inaugurated the Hiyun–Nagah and Charwadhar–Gauncha roads.
Singh said the state government was committed to transforming Chopal into one of Himachal Pradesh’s leading constituencies in terms of development. He also called upon elected representatives to work together to ensure balanced and sustainable growth across the region.
Rs 250-crore road project awaits final Centre clearance
The minister said the Shaila–Neri Bridge–Yashwant Nagar road project had received in-principle approval worth Rs 250 crore. The construction work is expected to begin once the project receives final clearance from the Central Government.
He further said several roads in Chopal would be developed under the HP READY Project, through which road construction and improvement works worth Rs 1,400 crore have been planned across Himachal Pradesh.
17 roads covering 133 km to be built under PMGSY
Highlighting the government’s focus on rural connectivity, Singh said Himachal Pradesh had recently received the Best Performance Award for its implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Under PMGSY Package III, 17 roads covering a total distance of 133 km are planned for construction in Chopal. The projects are estimated to cost around Rs 150 crore and are expected to improve connectivity for several rural areas.
New road drainage policy introduced
The PWD Minister also highlighted the state’s new road drainage policy, under which scientifically designed drainage systems and culverts will be mandatory for all new PWD road projects.
The policy aims to reduce damage to roads during the monsoon season, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. Proper drainage infrastructure is expected to improve the long-term durability of roads across the state.
Minister directs officials to resolve public grievances
During his visit, Vikramaditya Singh also interacted with residents and heard public grievances at several locations. He directed officials to address the issues on priority.
The minister also expressed displeasure over the absence of PWD officials during part of his tour and said that a show-cause notice would be issued to the officer concerned.
With multiple road and infrastructure projects in the pipeline, Chopal is expected to witness significant development activity in the coming months, particularly in the areas of rural connectivity and road infrastructure.
