Sirmaur has achieved a major economic milestone by crossing ₹3,200 crore in exports during the financial year 2024-25, strengthening its reputation as one of Himachal Pradesh’s fastest-growing industrial and export destinations. With a strong manufacturing base already in place, the district is now preparing to expand its global presence by promoting GI-tagged traditional products and premium horticultural produce alongside its well-established pharmaceutical industry.

The district’s export roadmap was reviewed during a meeting of the District Export Promotion Committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma. She directed various departments to identify new exporters, simplify regulatory procedures, improve logistics, strengthen digital clearances, and create better market access for local industries.

Sirmaur Records Consistent Export Growth

Official figures highlight the district’s steady export growth over the past four years:

  • 2021-22: ₹2,097.56 crore
  • 2022-23: ₹2,705.21 crore
  • 2023-24: ₹2,841.12 crore
  • 2024-25: Around ₹3,200 crore

The continuous rise reflects the rapid industrial development taking place across the district and its growing contribution to Himachal Pradesh’s economy.

Pharma Industry Continues to Drive Exports

Industrial hubs such as Kala Amb, Paonta Sahib, Dhaula Kuan, and the emerging Sataun growth corridor remain the backbone of Sirmaur’s manufacturing sector. Pharmaceuticals continue to account for the largest share of exports, while textiles, engineering products, medical devices, adhesives, fragrances, and mineral-based products have also strengthened the district’s export portfolio.

According to the latest quarterly data for 2025-26, Sirmaur-based companies are expanding their reach across international markets. Major exporters, including Sun Pharma, Mankind Pharma, Sai Corporation, Pioneer Embroideries, Laborate Pharmaceuticals, Rajshree Fabrics, Blue Star, Pidilite Industries, Ideal Medical Devices, and Tirupati Group, are supplying medicines, pharmaceutical formulations, engineering products, medical devices, industrial equipment, perfumes, textile yarn, and non-woven fabrics to several countries.

Rajgarh Fruits Among New Export Priorities

The district administration is also working to increase exports of horticultural produce. Rajgarh peaches, plums, walnuts, kinnow, sweet oranges, galgal, garlic, and processed fruit products have been identified as high-potential export commodities.

Rajgarh, widely known as the “Peach Bowl of India,” is expected to play a leading role in boosting fruit exports from the district in the coming years.

GI-Tagged Products to Strengthen Global Identity

Sirmaur is placing renewed emphasis on promoting its traditional products in global markets. The GI-tagged Sirmauri Loiya will be encouraged for commercial production, while the GI registration process for Sirmaur ginger has been completed and is awaiting final approval.

Officials believe Sirmaur ginger has significant export potential due to its low fibre content and high oleoresin value, making it highly suitable for both food processing and pharmaceutical industries.

New Industrial Estate Proposed at Kala Amb

To further strengthen industrial growth, a proposal has been submitted to the Government of India for establishing a 388-bigha industrial estate at Kala Amb under the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna. The project aims to attract fresh investments, expand manufacturing capacity, create employment opportunities, and enhance the district’s export competitiveness.

The meeting was coordinated by General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Rachit Sharma, while Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade Aditya Chauhan briefed participants on ongoing export promotion initiatives and future opportunities for local industries.

With exports touching a record high and fresh initiatives focused on infrastructure, agriculture, and GI products, Sirmaur is steadily emerging as one of North India’s most promising export-driven districts.
