Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Wednesday launched an Integrated Rural Development Project in Haroli subdivision, aimed at improving the quality of life across six gram panchayats. The initiative is being implemented under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Nestlé India in partnership with the SM Sehgal Foundation.
The project will cover the panchayats of Nangal Kalan, Nangal Khurd, Gondpur Jaichand, Haroli, Dulehar, and Bathari, benefiting nearly 9,000 residents through a range of development activities.
The initiative focuses on key sectors such as water conservation, sanitation, sustainable agriculture, education, nutrition, school infrastructure, skill development, and community empowerment. Officials said the programme aims to strengthen rural livelihoods while improving access to essential services.
Senior representatives from Nestlé India and the SM Sehgal Foundation, including Chairman and Managing Director Manish Tiwary, Director (Corporate Affairs) Kanwar Himmat Singh, and CEO Anjali Makhija, attended the launch event.
Speaking to reporters after the programme, Agnihotri also shared an update on the proposed ₹2,200 crore Bulk Drug Park at Polian village in Haroli. He said the foundation stone for the ambitious industrial project is expected to be laid in September.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Bulk Drug Park is being financed jointly by the Central Government and the Himachal Pradesh Government. He added that civil infrastructure tenders worth nearly ₹1,000 crore have already been floated for essential facilities, including sewage networks, drinking water supply, and boiler systems.
Agnihotri said the state government is moving ahead with the project as planned and maintained that political criticism would not slow its progress.
He further informed that drinking water and irrigation projects worth nearly ₹1,000 crore are currently underway in the Haroli Assembly constituency. As part of these efforts, 325 deep bore tube wells have already been drilled and made operational to improve water availability for local residents.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government remains focused on strengthening rural infrastructure while accelerating industrial development to create long-term economic opportunities in the region.
