In a major push towards technology-driven governance and public safety, Himachal Pradesh has inaugurated its first fully wireless CCTV Command and Control Centre in Haroli, setting a new benchmark for smart surveillance in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Friday inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility, named ‘Aaina’, making Haroli the first Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh to achieve complete road surveillance through an entirely wireless network.

Developed at a cost of ₹5.5 crore, the command centre has been established at the office of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Haroli. The facility enables authorities to monitor live CCTV feeds from highways, major roads and sensitive locations across the constituency in real time.

195 High-Resolution Cameras Installed Across Haroli

As part of the project, 195 high-definition surveillance cameras have been installed at 60 strategically important locations in Haroli. The constituency shares a significant border with Punjab, making surveillance and security management crucial for law enforcement agencies.

Officials said the system is designed to instantly alert the control room in case of suspicious movements, helping police respond quickly and effectively.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri described the initiative as a significant milestone in modern policing.

“The facility represents a major step towards smart, technology-enabled policing and improved public safety,” he said.

Smart Surveillance to Improve Traffic Management

The newly established centre is equipped with 19 large LED display screens that facilitate round-the-clock monitoring of activities across the constituency.

The advanced surveillance network can store CCTV footage for up to three months, allowing authorities to review incidents whenever required.

The project also includes seven Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS) aimed at streamlining traffic movement, reducing congestion and enhancing road safety measures. Authorities will also be able to identify traffic violations and issue online challans through the integrated system.

Interceptor Vehicle Flagged Off

During the event, Agnihotri also flagged off a dedicated interceptor vehicle that will support traffic regulation and enforcement activities in Haroli.

He further announced several upcoming transport initiatives for the region, including the inauguration of a new Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) depot in Haroli.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, a fleet of electric buses has already been allocated for the constituency. New bus services connecting Haroli with Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla and AIIMS Bilaspur are also expected to begin soon.
