Amb Andaura-Kolkata Weekly Superfast Express Begins Operations, Strengthening Himachal’s Link with Eastern India
Una, Himachal Pradesh: In a major boost to railway connectivity in Himachal Pradesh, Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur on Saturday flagged off the new Amb Andaura-Kolkata Weekly Superfast Express from Amb Andaura Railway Station in Una district. The newly launched train service is expected to enhance travel convenience for thousands of passengers while improving connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and eastern India.
The weekly superfast train will cover a distance of nearly 1,900 kilometers in approximately 31 hours and 30 minutes, connecting Amb Andaura directly with Kolkata. Railway officials believe the service will benefit tourists, pilgrims, students, and business travelers alike.
Train Timings and Schedule
According to the railway schedule, Train No. 12326 will depart from Amb Andaura every Saturday at 6:10 AM and reach Kolkata on Sunday at 2:50 PM.
For the return journey, Train No. 12325 will leave Kolkata every Thursday at 7:40 AM and arrive at Amb Andaura on Friday at 4:55 PM.
The train will halt at several important railway stations along the route, including:
- Ambala
- Saharanpur
- Moradabad
- Bareilly
- Lucknow
- Varanasi
- Patna
- Asansol
Multiple Travel Classes Available
To cater to different categories of passengers, the train has been equipped with a range of coach options, including:
- AC 2-Tier
- AC 3-Tier
- AC 3-Tier Economy
- Sleeper Class
This mix of travel classes is expected to make the service accessible to both budget and premium travelers.
Boost for Tourism and Religious Travel
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, MP Anurag Thakur expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister for approving the much-awaited rail service connecting Himachal Pradesh with Kolkata.
He highlighted that the train would play an important role in promoting religious tourism, providing easier access to renowned pilgrimage destinations such as Patna Sahib and Varanasi, which attract millions of devotees every year.
The new rail link is also expected to encourage tourism, strengthen cultural exchanges, and support economic activities between northern and eastern India.
Local Leaders Attend Launch Event
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several local leaders, including Una MLA Satpal Singh Satti, former Gagret MLA Rajesh Thakur, and former Chintpurni MLA Balbir Singh.
Residents and railway passengers welcomed the launch of the service, calling it a long-awaited development that will significantly reduce travel challenges for people traveling between Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal.
